When dribbling, it’s always good to know where the ball is without looking down at it. This is why the Ball Mastery with a Tennis Ball drill is so important to practice. While performing the skill, tossing the tennis ball forces you to keep your head up. Plus, the more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll feel with the ball at your feet.
Supplies:
- A tennis ball or any small ball
- Soccer ball
- 2 soccer players
Set up:
- One person stands facing the other, about 3 feet away.
- One player will have the soccer ball, and the other, a tennis ball.
Instructions:
- Have the player with the ball pass it between their feet.
- While the person is passing the ball between their feet, the other player tosses the tennis ball to them.
- Then, the player will have to pass the tennis ball back, while keeping the soccer ball under control. Do this for about 30-60 seconds and then switch.
Tips:
- Speeding up can help force your touches to be exquisite, so you don’t mess up.
- Try to switch up the skill and try something new.
