Continues 1v1, 2v2, 3v3s are very important for the development of a player’s dribbling talent. In this small space, you have very little to pass the ball to and therefore have to trust in your dribbling abilities to get the job done and score. Forcing yourself in an uncomfortable position is the best way to learn how to be confident with yourself and grow as a player.
Supplies:
- Cones
- 4 or more players
- 2-4 balls
Set up:
- Set up a boundary using some cones, It shouldn’t be too big or too small.
- Create a goal using 4 cones.
- Split the players up evenly into two teams. Each team will line up in a line behind the goals.
- One player will start with a ball, keep the other balls close.
Instructions:
- When the first player brings the ball on, a player from the other team will play defense and try to steal the ball and score on their own.
- The play will continue as normal.
- Once the ball goes out, the player who last touched the ball is out and a new player from their team will bring a ball into play. But, if the ball goes out across the goal-line, it doesn’t matter who touched the ball last.
- The player who is defending the goal on that side will step out and a new player from their team will bring a new ball in.
Tips:
- Don’t be afraid to stand up to the opponent and try to skill in front of them. Just holding the ball away from them will not help develop you as a player.
- Focus on the transition, don’t be caught standing, and always look to come on and beat the defender straight up.
