Just like the Rondo, the triangle passing drill is a great way to improve your touch and passing ability. The drill focuses on short, quick passes but there are no defenders to get in your way. Remember, at first it may be harder, but as you practice, the drill will become easier and easier.
Supplies:
- Three cones
- Three players
- One ball (You can add more to increase difficulty)
Set up:
- Make a triangle with the cones and have each player stand by a cone.
- One player starts with the ball.
Instructions:
- The player who will be receiving the ball will check away to the other side of the cone and then show up for the person to pass it to them.
- The player will receive the ball and pass it to the third player who should have already checked before you were ready to pass it to them.
- Continue passing the same way for about 1-2 minutes and then switch directions to practice using both feet.
Tips:
- If you are taking more than one touch, make sure you are perfecting your first touch, leading the ball around the cone.
- Quicken the pace by using one-touch only. Remember to keep your passes accurate and detailed.
- To make the drill harder, try adding another ball. This will require you to survey and analyze the field quicker. Plus, two balls will improve your reaction time and quick passing.
