The only way to get better at something is to keep practicing. This is a simple drill that when practiced enough times, will help you improve your crossing abilities. Crossing is not a huge part of the game as a whole, but when the time comes, you must be able to execute a perfect cross so you do not waste a perfectly good scoring opportunity.
Supplies:
- Two or more players
- At least one ball
Set up:
- Split the players so they are in two lines, both level with the 18-yard box.
- One line stands to the side of the goal, either side is fine.
- The other line stands in the middle.
- The balls will be with the line on the side of the goal.
Instructions:
- One player in the line to the outside of the goal will start to dribble the ball to the endline while one player in the middle will run parallel to them.
- Once the player with the ball gets close enough to the endline, they will cross the ball in the middle for the player there to shoot it.
Tips:
- Keep the cross accurate, not too far in front or behind the player in the middle.
- Time your run perfectly so you are in the right position to receive the ball.
- Focus on shooting the ball first time, keep it low and on target.
