This drill is a very different type of scrimmage. Your team has to try and keep possession and dribble through the gates to earn points. There is no dedicated direction that you have to go so each player will have to play defense and offense. Practice your deceptiveness by looking like you are traveling to one gate and then quickly change direction and go to a different one.
Supplies:
- Ball
- Teams of 5 or more
- 5 gates made from 2 cones each (10 cones)
Set up:
Set up 5 gates. One at each corner and one in the center.
Instructions:
- The team with the ball will have to dribble or pass through the gate to earn a point.
- This is a continuous game and does not stop after a team earns a point.
Tips:
- Be deceptive and not predictable to the other team
- Always survey the field and be ready to transition from offense to defense or defense to offense
- If you are dribbling toward a gate and you are unsure if you can make it through the gate, perform a skill and change direction.
