The 2 player defending drill is a perfect drill if you want to improve your defending. This drill works on defending a player who is dribbling away from you and it is great for improving your ability to hold the ball as well. In all, when looking for a defending drill that can be done with 2 players, this is the right drill to practice.
Supplies:
- Two-Three players
- 1 ball
Set up:
- Two to three players will form a small triangle about 12 feet apart.
- One player will start with the ball.
Instructions:
- First, pass the ball between the other player(s).
- Whenever you are ready, turn and take the ball down the field.
- The other player(s) will chase you down as you try to keep possession.
- Restart the drill and have someone else take the ball.
Tips:
- Take small and detailed touches to keep the ball next to you
- Put the ball on the foot farther away from the defender
