A simple two-player drill to improve this important pass technique. A through pass is mostly used to send a player running into space and avoiding offsides while having the advantage of momentum. Practice this so you can utilize this in a game. Make sure to weight the ball with the correct pace and accuracy so your teammate can intercept the pass
Supplies:
- 2 cones
- 1 ball
- 2 players
Set up:
- Set up the cones about 3 feet apart. Make sure they are angled in the direction the second player will run.
- The players will each stand on the same horizontal line, about 15 feet on either side of the cones.
- Designate one player to start with the ball.
Instructions:
- The player without the ball will run straight and the other will pass the ball through the cones to meet the running player in stride.
Tips:
- Be detailed in your passes and try to get them through the cones every time
- Really focus on making a good run or having an accurate pass
