The small box dribble drill is a simple yet effective way to improve your skills. In the small box, you will pull different skills and accelerate into space. This drill will improve your awareness if you have more players in a small space. Also, the repetition of pulling skills will improve your confidence and you will then be able to comfortably use them in the game.
Supplies:
- You and a ball
- Cones (optional)
Set up:
- Make sure you have a small, clearly marked area. Either make a box with cones or go into a small room.
- Then, with your ball step inside the area and get ready to work.
Instructions:
- In the small box, dribble the ball and occasionally use different skills.
- The skill you use could be chosen by you or a person observing you like a coach or friend.
- Keep dribbling until you get tired or time is up.
Tips:
- If a group of soccer players is in a small space with you, this will force you to look up to prevent a collision. More players are better because it challenges you to adapt to the movement of the other players.
- Make sure you practice different skills and use your non-dominant foot. The more uncomfortable you feel, the more you will improve.
