One of the most overlooked skills in soccer is throwing the ball in. It may not define you as a player, but it is good to know how to effectively throw in the ball. Although a soccer throw-in does not seem very important, if learned how to use it as an advantage, it can create a promising attack.
To throw the ball in, you must keep both of your feet touching the ground at all times. If one of your feet leaves the ground, the ref will give the other team possession. Make sure the ball is over your head at all times. Simply lift the ball over your head, swing your arms back, then throw the ball in. To get more power, you can try a running start. The only problem is lifting your feet off the ground, which can be avoided by plating your front foot then dragging your back foot.
Throwing the ball in is an awkward motion. The only way to get better at throwing the ball in is to strengthen the muscles needed to do so. To strengthen these muscles, try practicing throwing the ball in your yard. Even if you just do it for a little bit of time each day, you will start to see an improvement.
